What is “The Current”?

In 2021, my career path in qualitative research and library science led me to knowledge management. I began working with user experience researchers in companies who were in desperate need of a knowledge management solution for their customer insights.

My background in anthropology, ethnography, and information science informed my approach. Rather than jumping into a pre-determined solution, I dug into the problem space, taking time to understand each individual business and the people within it.

I named my business “The Current” because an essential part of understanding a business’s unique needs is identifying the “currents of knowledge” that exist within the organization. How is knowledge shared right now? What works about those methods and what doesn’t? How can we use the existing currents to build a knowledge system that fits into peoples’ work lives, rather than laying down a single blanket solution that often feels disruptive, alienating and disempowering? (Exactly what should be avoided for a new system to be adopted and effectively utilized!)

If you’re wondering how a business-specific, people-first approach to knowledge management could benefit your business, let’s talk. I’d love to learn more about how I can support the powerful work you’re doing!
